Trans Nzoia County Assembly Launches 2023–2027 Strategic Plan to Guide Development

Trans Nzoia County Assembly has unveiled its four-year Strategic Plan (2023–2027), marking a major step in the county’s governance and development agenda. The launch, held in Sitatunga Ward, Cherangany Sub County, highlighted the assembly’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and enhanced public service delivery. Assembly Speaker Andrew Wanyonyi described the plan as a blueprint for sustainable growth, emphasizing the collective vision it sets for both the assembly and the wider county community.

Developed through extensive consultations with stakeholders—including county assembly members, the county secretariat, civil society organizations, and members of the public—the strategic plan focuses on strengthening legislation, oversight, and representation. Key pillars outlined in the document include capacity building, infrastructure development, integration of technology, public participation, and transparency. Wanyonyi underscored that the plan aligns with both national and county priorities to ensure cohesive and effective governance.

Governor George Natembeya commended the assembly for its efforts, noting that the strategic plan complements the county government’s integrated development initiatives. He highlighted achievements such as the disbursement of bursaries to 22,000 students, construction of the county headquarters, operationalization of Tom Mboya Mother and Child Hospital, and employment conversions for 700 educators. Natembeya stressed that successful governance relies not only on planning but also on diligent implementation, urging all stakeholders to work collaboratively to realize the plan’s objectives.

Deputy Governor Philomena Kapkory echoed the governor’s sentiments, emphasizing that translating the strategic plan into tangible outcomes is essential for meeting the aspirations of residents. She called on the assembly, government entities, the private sector, civil society, and the public to engage actively in turning the plan into action. The event was also attended by County Secretary Truphosa Amere, Deputy Speaker Obed Mwale, and other assembly members, signaling broad support for a structured roadmap aimed at transforming Trans Nzoia County over the next four years.
