Tragedy in Kericho: Two Police Officers Electrocuted During Installation
A tragic incident in Kericho County has claimed the lives of two police officers who were electrocuted while installing a security light at a local police post. The officers were reportedly on a ladder when they accidentally made contact with a live high-voltage power line, resulting in their immediate electrocution. Colleagues rushed to their aid, but they were pronounced dead at the scene.
The officers have been identified as dedicated members of the service, and their deaths have sent a wave of grief through the National Police Service and the local community. The area was cordoned off as authorities from the Kenya Power and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) launched an investigation into the precise circumstances surrounding the fatal accident. Preliminary reports suggest the tragedy was a result of accidental contact with overhead electrical wires.
The National Police Service has expressed its deep condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased officers. The incident has raised serious concerns about the safety protocols followed during such installations, especially within government facilities. An internal probe has been initiated to determine if established safety procedures were adhered to, in order to prevent a recurrence of such a devastating event.
