Nairobi, Kenya – Over 965,500 students who sat the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams are set to learn their results next week, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba announced on January 3, 2025. The announcement comes amid nationwide anticipation, as candidates and parents await confirmation of academic performance following a smooth but closely monitored examination season.

CS Ogamba revealed that the 2024 results will show an improvement in top‑end performance, with more candidates achieving a plain A compared to the previous year. The 2024 KCSE results will unveil a new chapter for thousands of learners, reminding us that every path forward holds limitless potential, he said. This year’s exams involved 965,501 candidates across 10,755 centres, up from 903,138 candidates in 2023, highlighting continued growth in participation.

The Ministry of Education continues to stress exam integrity. While the exams were largely conducted without major disruptions, KNEC is undertaking thorough verification to minimize errors and identify any irregularities. Students and parents are urged to remain patient as results are finalized, with the government committed to ensuring a transparent, credible, and fair release. The 2024 KCSE results also mark a significant milestone for students navigating the final years of the 8-4-4 system, setting the stage for the upcoming shift to the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
