Survey shows rising adoption of AI adoption in Kenya

A recent survey reveals that Kenya is witnessing a notable increase in the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) across multiple sectors, signaling the country’s growing engagement with digital technologies. The study highlights that businesses, government agencies, and startups are increasingly integrating AI-driven solutions to enhance efficiency, improve decision-making, and address local challenges. Healthcare, agriculture, finance, and public services emerged as the leading sectors benefitting from AI applications, demonstrating Kenya’s potential to become a regional hub for technological innovation.
The rise in adoption is attributed to supportive national policies and programs, including the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy launched on 27 March 2025, which outlines a framework for AI deployment, skill development, and ethical governance. Complementing this is the Kenya AI Skilling Alliance (KAISA), launched on 29 October 2025, aimed at building AI capacity, providing mentorship, and equipping the workforce with future-ready skills. Survey results show that startups are leveraging AI tools for predictive analytics, automated services, and smart infrastructure, while larger organizations are integrating machine learning and data analytics to optimize operations and enhance service delivery.
Experts interpreting the survey emphasize that while Kenya is making significant strides in AI adoption, challenges such as data privacy, cybersecurity, and equitable access remain. Continued investment in infrastructure, skills training, and ethical AI frameworks will be critical to sustain growth and ensure that AI benefits are shared across urban and rural communities. Looking forward, the survey predicts that Kenya’s expanding AI ecosystem will drive innovation, create new job opportunities, and further cement the country’s position as a leader in Africa’s digital economy.
