Siaya County is preparing to showcase its investment potential during the upcoming Siaya International Trade and Investment Conference (SITICO) 2025, scheduled to run from October 14 to 17. The event aims to position the county as a prime destination for both local and international investors, innovators, and policymakers. The conference will focus on unlocking opportunities in agriculture, renewable energy, value addition, and the blue economy. Governor James Orengo confirmed that President William Ruto will officially open the event, underscoring its national significance.

The three-day conference, themed Positioning Siaya as an Investment Destination: Transformative Growth Through Trade and Investment, will feature keynote speeches, plenary sessions, sector-specific breakouts, exhibitions, and site visits to priority county projects. Governor Orengo highlighted that the county is endowed with fertile land, a dynamic blue economy, and a youthful, skilled workforce. The event will also include three pavilions: an investment pavilion, a Siaya Energy pavilion to spotlight energy generation opportunities, and a cultural pavilion highlighting the county’s historic and tourist sites.

County officials emphasized that Siaya’s strong governance record and investor-friendly environment will attract meaningful economic engagement. The Controller of Budget has ranked Siaya highly for timely contractor payments, while the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission recognizes the county for low bribery risks. Governor Orengo urged entrepreneurs, cooperatives, professional bodies, academia, and the diaspora to leverage SITICO for networking, exploring investment opportunities, and forging public-private partnerships that could accelerate enterprise growth and secure bankable commitments for the county’s development.
