Share Intelligence to Neutralize Al-Shabaab, Duale Tells Wajir Residents
Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has issued a direct appeal to residents of Wajir County, urging them to actively share intelligence with security agencies to help neutralize the threat posed by Al-Shabaab militants. The CS, speaking during a security meeting in Wajir Town, emphasized that the community’s cooperation is the most potent weapon in dismantling the terrorist network. He stated that the militants live and operate within the communities and cannot be defeated by military force alone.
CS Duale assured the residents of the government’s unwavering commitment to their safety and the confidentiality of any information provided. He highlighted the improved capabilities of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and the multi-agency security team, but stressed that their effectiveness is multiplied by timely and precise tips from the public. Your role as the eyes and ears on the ground is irreplaceable, the Defence CS told the gathering.
The appeal reinforces the government’s strategy of combining kinetic military operations with robust community engagement. CS Duale warned that Al-Shabaab is a common enemy to both the state and the local populace, whose development and livelihoods are disrupted by the group’s activities. He called for a united front to deny the militants any safe haven, recruitment opportunities, or logistical support within the county.
