Nyamira County has rolled out essential drugs and medical supplies valued at Sh30.4 million to 116 health facilities, aiming to improve access to quality healthcare for residents. The flag-off ceremony was led by County Attorney Erastus Orina on behalf of Governor Amos Nyaribo, who reaffirmed the county’s commitment to achieving Universal Health Coverage. Orina urged residents to register with the Social Health Authority (SHA) to benefit fully from the scheme.

The delivery follows an initial order of Sh37 million from the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA), with Sh7 million of drugs yet to be supplied. County Health Executive Dr. Donald Mogoi emphasized prudent use of the drugs to ensure efficiency and accountability across the supply chain. He further announced plans for an additional Sh20 million order to prevent stockouts of essential medicines, highlighting ongoing efforts to strengthen health service delivery in the county.

Residents and health workers welcomed the initiative, noting that the improved availability of drugs will enhance patient care, especially during the festive season when medical emergencies are common. With proper management, the county hopes the strengthened supply of essential medicines will improve health outcomes, reduce preventable illnesses, and build public confidence in Nyamira’s healthcare system.
