Security Situation in Wajir is Stable, Assures Regional Commissioner Otieno
The government has assured the nation that the security situation in Wajir County is stable and under firm government control. The North Eastern Regional Commissioner, John Otieno, gave the assurance during a security assessment tour, dispelling rumors of unrest and affirming that security agencies are fully in command. He stated that the multi-agency teams on the ground are effectively managing the situation to ensure the safety of all residents and their property.
The Regional Commissioner credited the prevailing calm to the sustained collaboration between security forces and the local community. He highlighted that the partnership has been instrumental in gathering timely intelligence and preempting potential threats. While acknowledging the persistent challenge posed by Al-Shabaab militants across the border, he maintained that proactive operations have successfully neutralized several threats and kept the militants at bay.
Commissioner Otieno urged residents to ignore alarmist propaganda and to continue their cooperation with security agencies by reporting any suspicious individuals or activities.
