In a tragic incident early on December 4, 2025, a guard was killed when armed robbers struck a liquor store in the Kahawa West area of Nairobi. The criminals broke in around 4:00 a.m., destroyed the store’s CCTV system and looted about KSh 2.5 million worth of goods before fleeing. Police from Kasarani have launched investigations following the owner’s report, filed after neighbours alerted him at around 7:00 a.m. Shop owner Nicholas Mwongera said he was informed by neighbours, prompting an immediate report to the Kahawa West Police Station. Locals have expressed alarm over rising insecurity — some attribute the surge in criminal activity to a prolonged power outage after a transformer was removed by the power company three weeks ago and not yet replaced. Residents are now calling on authorities to take swift action to restore security and prevent further incidents
