Security Tightened in Narok Town Following Mysterious Killings

Narok, Kenya – Authorities in Narok town have intensified security following a recent series of mysterious killings, prompting the arrest of 52 individuals suspected of engaging in criminal activities.

During a public Baraza at Ole Koonyo grounds, Narok County Commissioner Kipkech Lotiatia urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons to authorities. He warned operators of unlicensed bars and wine shops that they risked arrest and prosecution if found harboring criminals.

We have learnt that most of these criminals hide in bars and restaurants. Those who own such premises should be very alert and report suspicious people to relevant authorities, said Lotiatia.

The County Commissioner emphasized that security is a shared responsibility, asking residents not to shield criminals, even if they are relatives. The call comes after a 38-year-old vegetable vendor was killed near Oltalet Mall, with police continuing investigations to apprehend the suspect.

Narok Peace Committee Chairman Joseph Kireu urged increased night patrols and encouraged residents to know their neighbors to identify strangers and their intentions. The recent spike in killings, including three other incidents in July 2024, has heightened concern over the town’s security.
