Ruto Vows Assistance to Kisii Woman Seeking Business Help

President William Ruto offered further assistance to a female business owner during a Nyota Fund distribution ceremony at Gusii Stadium in Kisii County after the woman knelt down requesting help.

The woman explained that she had previously run a clothing store but had to shut it down. Following its closure, she considered selling t-shirts and school uniforms to students, but dropped the plan once most students resumed classes.

With the assistance from the Nyota Fund, she intended to launch a new clothing venture specializing in baby wear. However, after receiving assurances of extra funding, she suggested establishing a laundromat in her village as she identified a market opportunity.

I intend to open a laundromat since no one in our area has pursued such a business, she explained.

Upon hearing her proposal, President Ruto verified that the county governor had consented to waive the business license requirements for her new enterprise. He also indicated that guidance would be offered to ensure the business functions successfully.

The governor has committed to waive your business license so you can commence operations. We will also guide you to guarantee your business succeeds, he confirmed.

During the same event, Ruto introduced a funding initiative targeting 90,000 Kenyan youth. He mentioned that the government will allocate KSh 36,000 to each recipient to facilitate the development of practical, hands-on skills.

He explained that the funding will cover training expenses and examination fees to enable participants to gain certification in their chosen fields.

The President additionally mentioned that the new initiative will be implemented through the Hustler Fund platform via the *254# service. Nevertheless, youth who have already qualified for the Nyota Fund will not be eligible for this new program.

We seek 90,000 young individuals whom we wish to empower with skills. We will provide Ksh 36,000 to each of you to enroll in a course and cover your examination fees so you can obtain certificates demonstrating your capabilities for future success, he declared.

He urged unemployed youth interested in trades like electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, and other vocational skills to seize this opportunity.

The Head of State also briefed the youth on continuous government endeavors to secure employment opportunities overseas through the National Employment Authority Integrated Management System.
