President William Ruto has departed for a sequence of official and state visits to Belgium, Norway, and Finland with the objective of fortifying trade ties, luring foreign capital, and broadening commercial prospects for Kenyan goods.
As detailed by State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, the journey is founded on Kenya’s approach to intensify economic diplomacy and stimulate export-driven advancement throughout pivotal sectors comprising agriculture, manufacturing, energy, and technology.
“President William Ruto departs this afternoon for Official Visits to Belgium and Norway, and a State Visit to Finland seeking to attract investment, expand market access for Kenyan products and reinforce partnerships that enhance exports, generate employment and foster economic development,” Hussein stated in an official communiqué.
During the official visit to Belgium, the President is scheduled to engage in discussions with His Majesty King Philippe and Flanders Minister-President Matthias Diependaele concerning the enhancement of mutual relations and the improvement of commercial and investment collaboration.
He will also interface with European Union authorities, including European Council President António Costa and European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, regarding the execution of the Kenya–European Union Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).
The accord confers Kenyan exports tariff-free and unrestricted entry to the European marketplace, a system Nairobi anticipates will substantially augment revenue for agriculturalists and exporters of tea, coffee, cut flowers, horticultural products, and value-added commodities.
Hussein indicated that the deliberations will concentrate on unlocking enhanced prospects for Kenyan producers and broadening access to European markets.
“The dialogues will emphasize the implementation of the Kenya-European Union Economic Partnership Agreement, which establishes tariff-free and quota-free access for Kenyan exports to the European market,” he mentioned.
In Norway, President Ruto will confer with Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and also meet Crown Prince Haakon. Subsequently, he will partake in the Kenya–Norway Business Forum, which will assemble investors investigating opportunities in renewable energy, electric mobility, maritime economy, and climate-resilient agriculture.
“The forum will offer a venue for Kenyan and Norwegian investors to investigate collaborations in renewable energy, electric mobility, the blue economy, climate-smart agriculture and additional sectors capable of generating employment and propelling sustainable economic advancement,” Hussein explained.
The President will finalize the journey with a State Visit to Finland at the invitation of President Alexander Stubb, subsequent to a reciprocal visit by the Finnish leader to Kenya in May 2025.
The visit is projected to deepen collaboration in education, technology, digitalization, clean energy, environmental sustainability, healthcare, and peace and security, while preparing the groundwork for fresh accords to reinforce bilateral ties.
Ruto will also attend the Kultaranta Talks, a foremost international foreign and security policy dialogue, where Africa constitutes a principal focus of this year’s deliberations.
According to State House, Kenya is anticipated to utilize the forum to advance its priorities on peace, security, sustainable development and modifications to the international framework.
He will likewise participate in the Kenya–Finland Business Forum, bringing together investors in technology, manufacturing, innovation, and clean energy.
