Ruto Prioritizes Church Construction Above Other Development Projects

President William Ruto emphasized that church construction takes precedence over other development initiatives as his government expands infrastructure investments throughout the nation. Addressing Easter Sunday festivities in Impopong, Trans Mara West, Narok County, Ruto highlighted that religious infrastructure holds more significance than other projects including markets, affordable housing, roads, and State House improvements. “Observing a neighbor’s well-organized, large church reminds me of King David, who expressed joy at being invited to the Lord’s house. I too am pleased to be here not merely as a visitor but as part of this community,” stated Ruto. Ruto disclosed that Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi had briefed him on a proposed church construction in the locality, which he approved, describing it as an excellent initiative. He mentioned that his administration has been implementing construction programs across the country but stressed that religious buildings possess unique importance. “I have diligently pursued construction efforts nationwide. Projects at State House, markets, affordable housing, and roads have been underway. Among all these, constructing the church stands as the most crucial,” he stated. The President added that his visit aimed to foster unity with residents and initiate new church projects, underscoring his commitment to expanding places of worship. These comments were made in the context of Easter teachings, with Ruto citing Matthew 28:6: “He is not here; He has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where he lay.” During the Easter holiday, as Kenyans commemorated the occasion, President Ruto conveyed an uplifting message of hope. The President extended Easter greetings to Kenyans, encouraging them to embrace hope, renewal, and togetherness. Through a video message posted on his social media accounts on Friday, Ruto noted that Easter symbolizes fresh beginnings, grounded in the crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. “Reflecting on the crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ teaches us that every circumstance offers the possibility of renewal and a fresh start,” stated Ruto. He conveyed his well-wishes to families nationwide, stating that the season should bring happiness, tranquility, and restored faith to those experiencing challenging times. “To all families, may the Easter spirit bring joy and peace. To every troubled soul, may it offer hope and renewed faith,” he remarked. Ruto also called for national unity, observing that Kenya would prosper from collective values of love and harmony. “To our cherished Kenya, may this bring strength, unity, and love. May God bless your families, and may God bless Kenya,” concluded Ruto.
