Kajiado County Livestock Vaccination Programs – 2025
1. County-wide Cattle Vaccination Campaign
Launch Date: 7th October 2025
Launch Location: Oloosuyian, Kajiado Central
Partners: 25 Ward Vaccination Committees (representing CDDCs, FPOs, National and County Administrators) and 10 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs)
Target Animals:
350,000 cattle
1.5 million sheep and goats
Activities: Vaccinations will be carried out at designated community crushes according to ward schedules
Purpose: Control and prevent the spread of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) and Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR)
2. Ring Vaccination for PPR Outbreak
Date: 23rd April 2025
Location: Korompoi area, Kajiado East
Cause: PPR outbreak after introduction of sheep of unknown origin
Vaccination Coverage: 8 days across 16 vaccination sites, including Rabies vaccination

Impact: Prompt response prevented further spread and reassured the community
