First Lady Rachel Ruto engaged with the US Chamber of Commerce to enhance Kenya-United States collaborations focused on promoting sustainable development and creating opportunities for women and youth.

During her visit to the United States, Mama Rachel Ruto underscored the significance of partnerships founded on common values of innovation, resilience, and inclusive growth.

She mentioned that Kenya maintains commitment to a development approach centered on its people.

“Embracing the African principle of ubuntu, my existence is tied to our collective being, our shared destiny is determined not by individual efforts, but by our collaborative achievements,” she stated.

The First Lady explained that through the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, the government seeks to expand opportunities, empower youth and women, and unlock potential at the community level.

Furthermore, she indicated that growing Kenya-US cooperation encompasses more than commercial exchanges.

“As the alliance between Kenya and the United States strengthens, it signifies more than trade; it represents common values of innovation, resilience, and inclusive development,” she emphasized.

The first lady highlighted that enhanced collaboration with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce will advance sustainable development and create opportunities, particularly for women and girls.

Her interaction with the business community occurred a day after she participated in the 40th annual Women’s History Month event in Prince George’s County, where she recognized the strength and leadership of women worldwide.

At the event, Rachel Ruto drew attention to the shared experiences of women globally, observing that women continue to create opportunities, support families, and build communities despite facing various obstacles.

“Across diverse cultures and continents, our journeys as women are profoundly interconnected. When women are empowered, families flourish, communities thrive, and nations advance,” she remarked.

The First Lady has been in the United States for a series of activities related to development, women’s empowerment and education, including involvement in a global summit hosted at the White House.

She previously joined other First Spouses at the Fostering the Future Together initiative organized by Melania Trump under the Be Best platform, where discussions focused on the role of technology and artificial intelligence in shaping education and the future of work.

Rachel Ruto emphasized that the future of children depends on connecting education with technology, noting that digital literacy and innovation are essential for creating opportunities for the next generation.

She also showcased Kenya’s advancements in digital transformation, mentioning that children in the nation are already engaging with coding, digital art and innovation through intentional investments in connectivity and technology.

The First Lady reinforced that global partnerships remain vital in ensuring equal access to technology and education, stressing the necessity of collaborative efforts to establish a safe and inclusive digital space for children.
