President William Ruto has defended the recently signed multi‑billion shilling health cooperation framework with the United States, insisting it will not compromise Kenyans’ personal health information. Speaking to reporters, the President said the government negotiated terms to protect national sovereignty and ensure funds support Universal Health Coverage priorities. Critics, however, argue transparency remains insufficient and demand parliamentary scrutiny of clauses touching on data access and governance. Health ministry officials say the partnership will provide critical resources for service delivery, disease surveillance and health workforce training if implemented with clear legal safeguards.
