Law enforcement officers in Kikuyu Sub-county, Kiambu, have seized alcoholic beverages worth Sh3 million believed to have been stolen from multiple businesses in the area. Three individuals suspected of being linked to the thefts were taken into custody during the operation. Authorities also confiscated a vehicle suspected of being used to move the stolen products.
According to Deputy County Commissioner Charles Laboso, the suspects are currently held at Kikuyu Police Station and are under investigation for a string of commercial burglaries across multiple districts. Laboso highlighted that several retail theft incidents have recently been documented at police stations in Kikuyu, Kiambu, Nairobi, and Kajiado.
“We have been informed of establishments being burglarized and various alcoholic beverages being taken. Today, our officers responded to information provided, apprehended the suspects, and retrieved both the vehicle and the suspected stolen alcoholic products,” Laboso explained.
He encouraged citizens to stay alert, emphasizing that criminals typically survey locations before carrying out their activities. The Deputy County Commissioner also delivered a strong message to those involved in criminal activities, suggesting they find lawful employment or endure the consequences of legal action.
“We are continuously working to protect our residents and their belongings. Offenders must change their ways as we will apprehend them. We are collaborating as a unitbringing together National Government Administration Officers, law enforcement, and community representatives through Nyumba Kumito enhance security measures,” Laboso cautioned.
