Opposition Leaders in Embu Demand Full Disclosure of County Development Funds

The Embu County Security Committee has summoned four individuals for questioning following recorded threats made during former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s recent visit to Mbeere North. Authorities allege that the statements, widely circulated on social media, were aimed at disrupting the upcoming electoral process ahead of the November 27 by-election.

County Commissioner Jack Obuo confirmed that the four are under investigation for making inflammatory remarks that could incite unrest. He emphasized that any attempts to disturb peace or influence the electoral process through intimidation would face stringent legal consequences. We will not tolerate any actions intended to undermine law and order during this critical period, Obuo stated.

The move comes as part of broader preparations by security agencies to ensure a peaceful by-election. Officials have urged the public to exercise restraint and report any suspicious activities, stressing the importance of upholding democratic principles. The committee’s intervention underscores the county’s commitment to safeguarding both voters and candidates from threats and harassment in the lead-up to the polls.
