Nyamira County has officially launched a comprehensive road rehabilitation program aimed at improving rural connectivity and boosting local economic activities. The initiative, spearheaded by the County Government, will see key roads across all four constituencies upgraded to bitumen standards, improving access for residents, traders, and transporters. Governor Amos Nyaribo noted that the project is part of the county’s broader development agenda to enhance mobility, reduce travel time, and attract investment.
During the launch, Governor Nyaribo highlighted several priority roads, including the Kebirigo–Gesima–Mosobeti–Metamaywa stretch and the Gekano–Nyangori–Ringoma–Moturmesi–Birongo route, which together cover over 45 kilometers of critical infrastructure. Reliable roads are the backbone of development. By upgrading these routes, we are opening up markets, easing transportation, and creating opportunities for small-scale farmers and entrepreneurs, the governor said. The program will be implemented in partnership with the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) and local contractors, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.
Residents and local leaders have welcomed the initiative, expressing optimism that it will transform rural livelihoods. For too long, poor roads have limited our access to schools, hospitals, and markets. This project brings hope for better connectivity and economic growth, said Borabu MP Patrick Osero. The county government has committed to regular monitoring and stakeholder engagement throughout the project to ensure timely completion and accountability of funds.
