New Business Training Programs Roll Out Across Nairobi

by KenyaPolls

The Nairobi City County Government has officially launched a series of business-training programmes designed to equip entrepreneurs and local traders in Nairobi with vital skills to grow their ventures. The initiative kicked off in all 17 sub-counties and aims to enhance competencies in areas such as digital marketing, financial literacy, and regulatory compliance.
The training programmes are part of Nairobi County’s broader Business & Hustler Opportunities agenda, which emphasizes formalising micro-businesses and strengthening the informal economy. With support from local training institutions and digital-economy specialists, sessions for entrepreneurs cover topics like supply-chain optimisation, online sales conversions and business plan development. The rollout leverages mapped training centres across the city, aiming for greater accessibility and regional reach.
Feedback from participating business owners has been positive, with many citing fresh ideas for boosting customer reach and operational efficiency. Experts say the move aligns with Kenya’s goal of strengthening small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the capital, improving revenue resilience and job creation. To maintain momentum, county officials plan to follow up the training with mentorship, digital toolkits and linkages to funding platforms.
Looking forward, the county anticipates these programmes will help accelerate Nairobi’s transition into a more competitive business hub in East Africa. With the training foundation in place, stakeholders expect increased formalisation of enterprises, stronger export readiness and broader economic growth across the city’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
