Natembeya Sends Firm Message to Security Team Handling Bandits
Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has issued a stern and unambiguous message to security officers engaged in the operation to flush out bandits from the region, urging them to be ruthless and decisive in their work. The governor, a former powerful Regional Commissioner, stated that the time for negotiations with criminal elements terrorizing residents is over. He emphasized that the security personnel must adopt a forceful approach to completely dismantle the banditry networks and restore peace.
Drawing from his extensive experience in the National Administration, Natembeya argued that a soft-handed approach has historically emboldened the criminals. He called for a final, conclusive operation to end the menace that has led to loss of lives, theft of livestock, and displacement of families. The governor’s message was clear: security forces should not hesitate to use all necessary force within the law to neutralize the threat posed by the armed bandits, ensuring they are either apprehended or decisively dealt with.
The governor’s strong remarks have been interpreted as a rallying cry to boost the morale of the security teams on the ground. While lending his full political support to the operation, Natembeya also called on local communities to cooperate with the security agencies by sharing timely intelligence. His statement has set a new, aggressive tone for the security operation, signaling an escalation in the government’s resolve to end the bandit attacks that have disrupted the livelihoods of those living in the volatile parts of the county.
