Nandi Residents Asked to Partner with Government in Combating Crime
The Nandi County Commissioner, Herman Shambi, has called on residents to actively partner with security agencies to effectively combat a surge in criminal activities. The appeal was made during a public security meeting where the CC emphasized that community cooperation is the most powerful tool in the fight against crime. He urged locals to break the culture of silence and report criminal elements and their hideouts to the authorities, assuring them of confidentiality and protection.

The Commissioner highlighted specific security concerns in the county, including an increase in incidents of burglary, livestock theft, and the brewing and consumption of illicit alcohol. He directed all National Government Administration Officers (NGAO) to strengthen the Nyumba Kumi initiative and ensure that members of the public are sensitized on their role in maintaining security. The police have also been directed to increase patrols, especially in crime-prone areas, to deter offenders.

Residents were encouraged to use toll-free numbers provided by the police to report any suspicious activities anonymously. The County Commissioner reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of all citizens and their property, stating that a collaborative approach between the public and security organs is the only way to create a crime-free environment conducive to development in Nandi County.
