Nakuru’s Inclusive Talent ID System Cuts Disability Bias by 89%

by KenyaPolls

Nakuru County’s Inclusive Talent Identification System—using AI, biomechanics, and para-coaches to scout athletes with and without disabilities—reduced selection bias by 89% in 2025, according to an independent audit by Strathmore University. The system evaluates *potential*, not just current performance: a child with cerebral palsy might excel in boccia; a deaf youth in vibration-based sports. Talent isn’t uniform—it’s diverse, said County Sports CECM Jane Kamau. Over 217 para-athletes were identified and supported; 14 now compete nationally. Sports CS Wafula announced nationwide rollout by Q2 2026.
