Nairobi Manufacturing Firms Receive Training on Export Compliance

by KenyaPolls

Manufacturing firms in Nairobi have begun receiving specialized training on export compliance standards, aimed at strengthening their ability to access regional and international markets. The program was rolled out under the Annual Development Plan 2025/2026, reflecting the county’s commitment to boosting industrial competitiveness and aligning local businesses with global trade requirements.
The training covers critical areas such as customs documentation, international quality standards, trade certifications, and digital compliance systems. Nairobi County partnered with the Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency (KEPROBA), private sector associations, and international trade experts to deliver the sessions. By equipping manufacturers with the necessary knowledge, the program seeks to reduce costly delays, improve efficiency, and enhance the credibility of Nairobi’s exports.
Industry leaders welcomed the initiative, noting that compliance challenges have long hindered manufacturers from scaling globally. Analysts argue that the training is transformative, embedding export readiness into Nairobi’s industrial ecosystem while complementing earlier initiatives such as the Industrial Infrastructure PPP (November 27, 2025) and the SME Export Support Programs (November 20, 2025). Together, these efforts create a comprehensive framework for competitiveness and growth.
Looking ahead, Nairobi County plans to expand the training by integrating AI-powered compliance monitoring, blockchain-based trade certification, and green export practices. Officials believe that by embedding advanced technologies into export compliance, Nairobi can accelerate industrial growth, attract foreign investment, and reinforce its role as East Africa’s manufacturing and trade hub.
