Nairobi hosted the inaugural Nairobi SkyRace on September 7, 2025—participants ran up 42 floors (968 steps) of the Britam Tower, raising KSh 15 million for youth sports. Elite winner Faith Chemutai (22, Uasin Gishu) finished in 5:48, while 68-year-old veteran Josephat Kiprono completed it in 12:34. Vertical running isn’t a gimmick—it’s urban endurance, said organizer Evans Mwangi. Safaricom sponsored timing chips and recovery zones. The race is now annual, with Mombasa and Kisumu joining in 2026. World Tower Running Association awarded Kenya a 2027 World Cup slot.
