The National Integrity Alliance (NIA), a coalition of Transparency International Kenya, Kenya Human Rights Commission, and Inuka Ni Sisi, has called for urgent reforms in Kenya’s governance, citing systemic corruption, impunity, and disregard for constitutional leadership and integrity provisions.

In a press briefing, NIA condemned President William Ruto’s recent cabinet dismissal, stating that it does not address the deep-seated rot within the government. The coalition demanded that dismissed Cabinet Secretaries be barred from holding future public office and called for lifestyle audits by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to verify the legitimacy of wealth acquired during office.

NIA further criticized Parliament for failing in its oversight role and urged it to act on pending anti-corruption laws, including criminalizing illicit enrichment and enforcing asset declaration measures. The group also called for judicial review of graft cases withdrawn by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), highlighting high-profile cases involving former public officers.

On security, NIA condemned the use of excessive force during recent protests, arbitrary arrests, abductions, and killings, demanding a full overhaul of the security apparatus in line with the Constitution and holding political and security leaders accountable for past atrocities.

The coalition emphasized that restoring public trust requires decisive action, transparency, and strict adherence to Chapter 6 of the Constitution on leadership and integrity.
