Nairobi Businesses See Higher Efficiency Through Automation

by KenyaPolls

Local businesses in Nairobi are increasingly turning to automation and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions to streamline routine tasks, boost productivity, and reduce operational costs. According to tech training firm GOMYCODE, there is a growing surge in digital readiness among companies, especially around AI adoption for automating administrative and repetitive workflows. Business Process Automation platforms, such as RahisiFlow, report that they help Kenyan SMEs — many based in Nairobi — save up to 60–120 hours per month by automating financial reconciliation, customer service triage, and sales reporting.
In the financial sector, notable examples include NCBA Bank, which has integrated Robotics Process Automation (RPA) under a program dubbed Project ZERO. The bank says it has automated 44 key processes, freeing up over 91,000 man-hours and reducing turnaround time by 33 percent. The move marks a major shift in how Nairobi-based financial institutions operate — shifting routine, rule-based tasks to software bots so staff can focus on higher-value and more strategic operations.
Beyond finance, many commercial businesses are harnessing sales‑force automation (SFA) to manage lead generation, customer follow-up, and sales analytics. According to SFA Kenya, automation of sales pipelines has enabled Nairobi sales teams to reduce manual reporting by up to 60 percent, while freeing up time to focus on customer relationships and growth. This shift to intelligent sales systems is helping firms scale their operations more efficiently and respond to market demand with greater agility.
Industry experts say that Nairobi’s adoption of automation is aligning with national industrial policy objectives aimed at boosting competitiveness. At the Kenya Industrialization Conference in 2025, speakers emphasized that AI, workflow automation, and advanced data tools are central to Kenya’s industrial transformation agenda. As automation continues to gain traction, Nairobi businesses are expected to deepen their tech integration, driving higher efficiency, resilience, and innovation in a rapidly evolving business landscape.
