County officials and industry leaders highlighted that AI is now a central pillar of Nairobi’s Business Digital Transformation Agenda, enabling enterprises to automate processes, reduce costs, and scale more efficiently.
SMEs and larger firms are leveraging AI in areas such as predictive analytics, customer service chatbots, supply chain optimization, and digital marketing. Retailers use AI-driven recommendation engines to boost sales, while logistics companies rely on predictive models to optimize delivery routes. Nairobi County has supported these efforts through Digital Training Programs (September 2025), equipping entrepreneurs with skills to integrate AI into their business strategies.
Entrepreneurs have praised AI adoption for its ability to increase efficiency, improve decision-making, and open access to new markets. Analysts argue that AI is particularly transformative for Nairobi’s SMEs, as it allows them to compete with larger firms by automating repetitive tasks and focusing resources on innovation. However, challenges such as data privacy, cybersecurity risks, and the need for skilled talent remain critical issues that must be addressed to ensure sustainable growth.
