by KenyaPolls

Nairobi has joined the Global Smart City Partnership, a coalition of 50 cities including Seoul, Barcelona, and Singapore, to share best practices in urban innovation. Announced in May 2024, the move aligns with the Smart Nairobi initiative and Konza Technopolis development. Areas of focus include AI-driven traffic management, digital citizen services, and green building standards. Nairobi will pilot smart streetlights in CBD and real-time air quality sensors in Industrial Area. The World Bank and UN-Habitat will provide technical support. Governor Sakaja said the partnership will accelerate Nairobi’s transformation into a livable, efficient, and inclusive metropolis by 2030.
