Digital creator Matheus, widely known as Kenyan Mzungu Fresh, has recounted a painful personal experience about a relationship that depleted his finances and stranded him away from his homeland.
In a recent interview, Mzungu Fresh disclosed how he encountered a woman in Mombasa, developed romantic feelings, and assumed most of her financial obligations during their short-lived romance.
He explained that everything changed suddenly once he ran out of money.
“I met a girl in Mombasa, fell in love, covered all her expenses, and now I lack sufficient funds to return home,” he stated. “When I informed her about my situation, she said she no longer wishes to be with me.”
The content creator detailed that their relationship lasted approximately two months, during which he claims he went to great lengths to support both his partner and her family.
According to his account, the woman was originally from Mombasa but resided in Nairobi when they first met.
“Our time together lasted two months. I began paying her rent, purchasing furniture for her, and also covering her mother’s housing costs,” he shared.
“She took me to her hometown, introduced me to her grandmother. I provided them with a washing machine. I even purchased goats for her.”
Mzungu Fresh described the critical moment when he examined his bank balance and discovered he lacked the necessary funds to travel back to his country.
After informing his partner of his financial predicament, he asserts the relationship terminated immediately.
“She blocked me on all platforms; WhatsApp, Instagram, and my phone number, leaving me unable to contact her,” he mentioned.
Despite recognizing that some might find his story amusing, the 28-year-old emphasized that he is currently in a challenging circumstance.
“It might seem humorous to others, but I now find myself without enough resources to return to my country,” he expressed. “I was deeply in love and didn’t think clearly.”
His frank narrative has triggered varied responses online, with some individuals showing empathy while others advise against intertwining finances with personal relationships.
