An impressive 50 students scored straight As, while 106 earned A- grades, placing the school among the best performers nationally. Top candidates, including Waititu Lewis Mwangi and Ian Humfrey, each achieved 84 points. Principal Willy Kuria attributed the stellar results to teamwork, discipline and a culture of excellence that has been nurtured over the years.
The strong performance marks a significant improvement from 2023, when the school posted a mean score of 9.1 compared to 2024’s 9.7. Kuria noted that despite the increased candidature, the students remained committed and focused, delivering what he described as clean and deserved results. Other schools in the county also recorded remarkable outcomes. Njiriis Boys High School produced 15 A plains and 13 A-, signalling its steady rise in academic stature. Pioneer School Maragua posted six A plains, with the deputy head teacher attributing the milestone to consistent effort by both learners and teachers. Karega Day School in Kigumo Sub-County continued its upward trend, with three A- grades, six B+, 24 B-, and 64 C+ results – a notable achievement for a day school in the region.
The wave of strong performances has sparked widespread excitement among parents, teachers and education officials, who view the results as a reflection of Murang’a’s growing investment in quality education. Many credited improved school infrastructure, stricter academic routines and stronger parental engagement for the steady rise in performance. The results are also expected to boost university transition rates from the county, giving hundreds of learners a pathway to higher education and professional growth.
Looking ahead, education stakeholders in Murang’a are optimistic that the momentum can be sustained. School leaders have pledged to build on the gains by strengthening mentorship programmes, expanding science and technology facilities, and enhancing teacher motivation. With competition among schools intensifying and national expectations rising, Murang’a County aims to cement its place as one of the country’s leading academic hubs in the coming years.
