The National Assembly has voted to lift the suspension imposed on former Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, who is now the Senate Majority Leader. Murkomen had been suspended from Parliament for five years in 2021 for alleged misconduct. The motion for his reinstatement, brought by Leader of Majority Kimani Ichung’wah, argued that the punishment was excessive and that Murkomen had shown remorse. The vote largely followed party lines, with Kenya Kwanza MPs supporting the motion and Azimio opposing it.
