Morara Kebaso, a youth activist and leader of the INJECT Party, has announced he will not run for any political office in the 2027 general election in Kenya. He made the announcement via a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, stating: I will not contest for political office in 2027. But I will vote if there is someone worth voting for.
Kebaso—who once publicly pledged to challenge for the presidency and positioned himself as a Gen Z voice in Kenyan politics—cited a combination of public pressure, personal and financial challenges, and the demands of sustaining a political movement as factors behind his withdrawal.
His decision highlights the difficulties faced by emerging youth-led parties and activists in Kenya’s political environment, where resources, networks, and established structures tend to favour older, more entrenched players. With his exit, the question shifts to whether other young leaders will step in to fill the gap and how the INJECT Party will reposition itself ahead of 2027.
