Mombasa Launches Coral Reef Swim for Marine Education

Mombasa hosted the Coral Swim on September 21, 2025—a 1km snorkel-swim over restored reefs, with marine biologists guiding athletes on coral species and threats. Over 500 participants joined; data collected aided reef mapping. You protect what you know—and love, said Dr. Salim Ali (KMFRI). Safaricom funded GPS trackers for swimmer data. UNEP featured it in *Citizen Science for Oceans*. Annual editions are planned.
