Marsabit County rolled out Camel Milk Protein Bars in 50 schools on February 10, 2025—locally made snacks using camel milk, amaranth, and dates to boost nutrition for student-athletes. Developed with JKUAT food scientists, each bar provides 12g protein and iron. Fueling champions starts in the classroom—and the herd, said nutritionist Halima Duba. Early results: 41% improvement in endurance tests. UNICEF is scaling the model to Turkana and Wajir. A women’s co-op now produces 5,000 bars/day, creating 24 jobs.
