Koskei Directs Security Agencies in Kericho to Intensify War on Alcohol and Drug Abuse
The Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei, has issued a directive for security agencies in Kericho County to intensify the war against alcohol and drug abuse, terming it a threat to national security. Chairing a County Security Committee meeting in Kericho, Koskei ordered a ruthless crackdown on all manufacturers, distributors, and sellers of illicit brews and narcotics, warning that the government will not tolerate the destruction of the youth.

Koskei stated that drug and alcohol abuse in the region has reached alarming proportions, leading to a loss of productivity, a rise in crime, and the breakdown of family units. He directed the National Police Service, the National Administration, and the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) to launch an immediate and sustained operation to dismantle the entire network, from the local brew dens to the sophisticated drug peddlers.

The Head of Public Service also called on local leaders, including elected officials and elders, to support the government’s efforts by championing anti-drug campaigns in their communities. He warned that any public officials found abetting or protecting the illicit trade would face immediate disciplinary and legal action. This firm directive signals a top-down, no-holds-barred approach to salvaging the future of the youth in the county.
