Kisii County’s Bold Cashless Move Spurs Sh1.9 Billion Revenue Boost

Kisii County has achieved a significant rise in revenue, from Sh1.1 billion in 2023–2024 to Sh1.9 billion in 2024–2025, largely due to its shift to a fully cashless revenue collection system.

During an award ceremony honoring revenue and enforcement officers, Chief Officer for Revenue Management Conrad Stephen Michael Owino credited the county staff for their dedication and discipline, which helped digitize payments and enhance transparency and accountability. Over 270 revenue staff implemented the system across all ten sub-counties.

Revenue sources including the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital, liquor licensing, street parking, and market fees are now collected digitally, reducing fraud and misuse of public funds. The county nearly reached its revenue target of Sh2.2 billion, achieving Sh1.9 billion, marking a significant milestone toward full target realization.

Governor Simba Arati and county leadership emphasized continued support and recognition for the disciplined and hardworking officers, noting that integrity is key when handling public funds.
