Armed Thieves Raid Kirinyaga School, Tie Up Guards, Steal Electronics
A school in Kirinyaga County was the target of a brazen early morning raid by armed thieves who tied up security guards and made off with electronic equipment worth thousands of shillings. The assailants, whose number is yet to be confirmed, gained entry into the institution’s compound by cutting through a perimeter fence before overwhelming the night watchmen.
According to police reports, the thieves restrained the guards and proceeded to break into several classrooms and the school’s administration block. They stole computers, projectors, and other electronic devices used for teaching. The guards were found unharmed but traumatized after the robbers fled the scene. Police and scene of crime personnel have since visited the institution to commence investigations.
The incident has caused panic among parents and the local community, raising concerns about the safety of learning institutions. School management is now reviewing its security protocols, considering measures such as enhanced lighting and the installation of alarm systems.
