Kiambu County has made notable strides in early 2025, according to its February edition of The Kiambu Report. In a detailed update, Governor Kimani Wamatangi’s administration highlighted investments in road safety, infrastructure, and social services as key to advancing the county’s development agenda. Among the top priorities is the modernization of transport infrastructure through the rehabilitation of access roads, construction of bridges, and installation of solar streetlights — all aimed at improving mobility and reducing road fatalities.
A major infrastructure highlight is the establishment of a jaw-stone crusher plant at the RUJWASCO Quarry in Gatong’ora Ward, enabling the county to produce hardcore chippings locally to support road maintenance across all 60 wards. Meanwhile, the County’s Road Safety Action Plan (2024–2028) is being rolled out, with Sub‑County Transport and Safety Committees set up to oversee enforcement, education, and vehicle checks. On the social front, Kiambu has significantly increased funding for its bursary programme. In addition to social and transport initiatives, the county has taken major steps toward expanding renewable energy access. Already, 570 streetlights have been installed in five informal settlements, including Misri (Limuru), Fort Jesus (Gitambaya, Ruiru), Bosnia (Githurai), Umoja (Thika), and Kiangombe.
