Khwisero MP Christopher Aseka Warns Kakamega Politicians Over Attacks on CS Oparanya

by KenyaPolls

Khwisero Member of Parliament Christopher Aseka has issued a stern warning to Kakamega County leaders who have launched repeated attacks against Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya, saying their criticism could spell political trouble for them.
According to Aseka, Oparanya still holds substantial influence in Kakamega, and anyone seeking to undermine him risks digging their own political grave.

The disagreement pits Oparanya against several local heavyweights, including Governor Fernandes Barasa and Senator Boni Khalwale, who Aseka accuses of orchestrating a campaign to sideline the former governor.
Aseka defended Oparanya’s decade-long record, saying the CS worked well for Kakamega people… he deserves respect.
He also advised voters to choose leaders with real leadership qualities in future elections, warning that personal attacks on Oparanya reflect poorly on the attackers’ character.

The remarks come amid growing friction in the county, where critics argue that Oparanya is micromanaging local politics despite his national role.

Aseka’s intervention is being seen as a bid to defend his political mentor and rally support around him — positioning himself as a key player in the county’s evolving power dynamics.
