by KenyaPolls

Kenya’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems in Nairobi (Ngong Road), Mombasa (Moi Avenue), and Kisumu (Jaramogi Oginga Odinga) now move 500,000 commuters daily, cutting average travel time by 45%. The Ksh50 billion Urban Transport Fund, backed by the World Bank, has deployed 400 electric and CNG buses with dedicated lanes, off-board fare collection, and real-time tracking. Over 85% of users report improved safety and reliability. The government plans to expand to Nakuru and Eldoret by 2025. The BRT is central to Kenya’s low-carbon urban mobility strategy and aims to serve 1 million daily riders by 2027.
