Kenya’s TVET Graduates Fill 80% of New Industrial Jobs in EPZs

by KenyaPolls

Kenya’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) graduates now fill 80% of new skilled positions in Export Processing Zones (EPZs), according to a 2024 Kenya Association of Manufacturers survey. Companies like Bamburi Cement, Kapa Oil, and Rivatex report that TVET-trained technicians outperform university graduates in roles like machine operation, quality control, and maintenance. The National TVET Authority attributes success to industry-aligned curricula and mandatory workplace attachments. The government plans to expand TVET-EPZ partnerships to all 47 counties by 2026, creating a pipeline of job-ready youth and supporting Kenya’s industrialization agenda under BETA.
