Kenya’s National Sports Mentorship App ChampionPath Launched

The Ministry of Sports and Safaricom launched ChampionPath—a mobile app connecting 10,000 youth athletes with elite mentors—on October 12, 2025. Features include video Q&As, training logs, and career guidance. Mentors include Peres Jepchirchir, Ferdinand Omanyala, and Sharon Fichman. No dream should fade for lack of a guide, said CS Wafula. The app is zero-rated and available in Swahili, English, and Sheng. Early data: 82% of users improved goal-setting skills. A USD 500,000 Google.org grant will expand AI coaching in 2026.
