by KenyaPolls

Kenya’s Ksh30 billion National Housing Fund financed 25,000 affordable housing units in 2023 through partnerships with private developers, SACCOs, and county governments. Projects in Nairobi (Ruiru), Mombasa (Migadini), and Kisumu (Manyatta) accounted for 70% of deliveries. Units priced between Ksh800,000 and Ksh3 million were targeted at low- and middle-income earners. Mortgage rates dipped to 10.5%, boosting uptake. Over 75% of units have been sold, with women comprising 55% of buyers. The fund aims to finance 200,000 homes by 2027 under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda. Slum upgrading remains a parallel priority.
