Kenya’s National Floorball for the Deaf Women Team Wins Africa Gold

Kenya’s deaf women’s floorball team—the *Silent Sticks*—won gold at the 2025 Africa Deaf Women’s Floorball Cup in Kampala on May 17, 2025, defeating Uganda 8–3. Using visual signals and vibration vests, Grace Akinyi scored 6 goals. We don’t hear the whistle—but we feel the game’s heartbeat, she signed. The Kenya Deaf Sports Federation now has 5 women’s clubs. Safaricom pledged KSh 18 million. Kenya qualifies for the 2026 World Deaf Champs.
