Kenya’s horticultural exports hit a record Ksh220 billion in 2023, defying climate shocks thanks to strong global demand and value addition. Naivasha’s flower farms led with Ksh135 billion, followed by avocado (Ksh32B), macadamia (Ksh22B), and fresh vegetables (Ksh31B). The Kenya Trade Remedies Agency reported increased shipments of processed avocado oil, dried berries, and organic herbs to Europe and Asia. Government interventions—including subsidized inputs and export promotion missions—played a key role. With AfCFTA, Kenya aims to dominate Africa’s fresh produce market while creating 1 million rural jobs by 2030.
