Kenya’s Beach Volleyball Duo Wins Gold at African Games in Ghana

by KenyaPolls

Gaudencia Makokha and Brackcides Khadambi struck gold for Kenya in beach volleyball at the 2025 African Games in Accra, defeating top-seeded Tunisia in straight sets (21–18, 21–16) on March 23, 2025. It was Kenya’s first-ever beach volleyball gold at the continental multi-sport event and secured Olympic qualification for Paris 2028 (via continental quota). The pair, training at the newly upgraded Shanzu Beach Facility in Mombasa, credited their success to year-round sand-court access and biomechanics coaching. The win triggered renewed interest in coastal sports, with Kilifi County unveiling plans for three new beach volleyball academies.
