Over 30,000 avocado farmers in Murang’a and Kiambu are using an AI-powered app called AvocadoAI to predict harvest yields and optimal selling windows. Developed by Strathmore University and IBM, the tool analyzes satellite imagery, weather data, and soil sensors to forecast output and recommend market entry. Farmers report 25% higher incomes from avoiding glut periods and negotiating better prices. The platform integrates with the Horticultural Crops Directorate and export cooperatives.
