Kenya to Host Africa Fintech Summit in Push for Digital Finance Leadership

by KenyaPolls

Nairobi will host the 2024 Africa Fintech Summit in September, reinforcing its status as the continent’s digital finance capital. Organized by the Central Bank and FSD Kenya, the event will showcase innovations in embedded finance, regtech, and cross-border payments. Over 500 startups, investors, and regulators from 30 countries are expected. Kenya’s fintech ecosystem—home to M-Pesa, Tala, and Cellulant—has attracted over $1.2 billion in VC funding since 2020. The summit will launch a regulatory sandbox for AI-driven credit scoring and blockchain solutions. CBK Governor Thugge said Kenya aims to digitize 80% of retail transactions by 2026. The event underscores Nairobi’s rivalry with Lagos and Cape Town for fintech dominance.
