Kenya has secured its first avocado oil export contract with Japan, valued at Ksh2.3 billion over three years. Processors in Murang’a will supply cold-pressed oil for cosmetics and culinary use under strict JAS standards. The deal, facilitated by JETRO and KEPROB, follows Kenya’s certification as a pest-free avocado zone. Over 15,000 farmers will benefit from premium pricing. The government is supporting 10 new oil extraction plants under the Value Addition Program. This marks Kenya’s shift from raw fruit to high-value processed exports in the global health and beauty market.
